The Hematology Fellows Program at ASH* is an initiative that awards select residents/fellows with a full sponsorship to attend the annual American Society of Hematology (ASH) Congress. The current Chair of the Hematology Award Program is Dr. Anargyros Xenocostas of London Health Sciences Centre. The attendees are selected by a steering committee of Hematologists from across Canada based upon a set of predetermined merit-based criteria.
The primary objectives of this program:
To enhance the clinical and professional development of Fellows and Residents in the field of hematology and to allow trainees to meet with colleagues from across Canada.
To identify and discuss key topics at ASH and have fellows provide their perspective and analysis.
The program at ASH requires the selected Residents/Fellows to choose one abstract/plenary or educational session to attend and prepare to discuss at a meeting at ASH or virtually. The abstracts will not be in any way dictated by the sponsor - the fellows may choose whatever interests them. Selected fellows will then lead a discussion on the attended sessions at a meeting following the ASH conference chaired by two members of the selection committee.
The application deadline is mid-September.
Program attendees will be provided with professional honoraria for their expertise.
